Biography
Sculptor and draughtsman, born in Perry Green, Hertfordshire,
where he grew up literally next door neighbours with Henry Moore.
In 1958 Farnham joined his father's building business, before
becoming Moore's full-time assitant in 1965 (after having worked
part-time for Moore since the late 1950's).
In 1969
he showed at Pace Gallery, then after further showings had a
solo exhibition in 1973 at Old Bakehouse Gallery, Sevenoaks,
which was the year he carried out his first major commission,
'Winged Figure', for the Department of the Environment, Royal
Air Force, Naphill.
In 1973,
he was also award an Arts Council grant and further commissions
were forthcoming, such as 'Life Form' in 1980, commissioned
by Institute of Biology. Farnham has also taken part in a number
of exhibitions, including Camden Arts Centre (1971); Turnpike
Gallery, Lancashire (1972); Playhouse Gallery, Essex (1972-79/81);
Fischer Fine Art, London (1973); Salford Art Gallery & Museum,
Manchester (1974); Guggenheim Gallery, London (1976); Leeds
City Art Gallery (1983); and Barbican (1986) to name but a few.
Farnham
continues to exhibit regularly and works as a special advisor
to the Henry Moore Foundation in Perry Green.
